More and more people are working from home with technological advances and children increasingly need a computer for their studies. This has introduced a greater need for people to have a Home Office.
Due to ever increasing house prices and the general cost of living, most people do not have a seperate room to convert to an office and therefore may need to convert a spare bedroom to a Home Office and a Guest room combined.
To enable you to plan and proportion the room, you will need to think about how you will use the room and when. You may decide that it will more frequently be used as a Home Office, than a guest room and opt for hide away beds disguised as wardrobes. Or, you may like the idea of concealing the office space in sliding wardrobes for example.
Your spare room may even have many uses:
Study
Custom designed furniture will allow you the versatility and option to create office space in your spare room. You may need filing space, book storage, drawers, cupboards or a computer desk. Should you wish to use the room as a guest room, you may want to consider options to hide these things away. Despite having various functions, fitted furniture will help the room remain organised and feel more spacious.
Guest Room
You may want a permanently fixed bed or one which folds away into wardrobes. This will depend on the size of the room and what you intend to use it for. You may also wish to consider storage options for guests if you have them frequently. This may include additional hanging or drawer space.
Recreational Room
The room could be used as recreational space when not being used as an office. It may offer a place for the kids to play on the computer, or be a recreational room with a sofa and an additional television
Library
If you are a family of book lovers then you may wish to include book shelving and a sofa in the room as a quiet space to sit and read.
Storage Space
Fitted furniture can also be utilised for storing items in the room that you do not use as frequently. This may include seasonal items, or suitcases and bedding.
Television Room
It may be a great idea to include am extra television into the room, not only for guests, but as a spare television for the kids to use with their friends
