When your new bathroom has been fully installed in your chosen colour and design, there is still so much you can do to make it homely and relaxing. Adding your very own personal touch will really bring the room to life…
1. Draw back curtains around your bath
Choosing a curtain to surround your bath will not only quieten any echo, but also make the room luxurious and homely. Adding some privacy, they will help add to your bathing experience when you take time out and relax. If you choose a shower over your bath, make sure you choose a curtain with a fully waterproof lining.
2. Greenery and plants
Plants and greenery will add colour and an interesting feature to your bathroom. Ensure you choose a plant that will thrive in the humid and damp conditions of a bathroom. If your bathroom is south-facing, you should also ensure the plant you choose can stand warm temperatures.
3. Large mirrors
Most people choose mirrors for their bathroom which are essentially small and functional, big enough for shaving or doing your hair. It is also worth considering a full sized mirror which can give an illusion of space, especially in a smaller bathroom. Heated mirrors are now also available to prevent them steaming up.
4. Have a tolled-up towel bundle
Rolling your towels up in a rustic looking basket will not only mean they are to hand and take up less space in the airing cupboard, but it will look a great feature and give the illusion of a luxurious spa.
5. Wooden accessories
If you have chosen a plain or white bathroom, a shabby chic or rustic wooden accessories will bring the room to life with its unique style. A junk shop is a great place to look for well-worn items, or you could even make your own from reclaimed wood or driftwood.
